Fermanagh Girl amongst the Victims. Dublin Daily Express - Saturday 06 June 1914

Parent of Miss Letitia Parkinson, who emigrated from Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, about a year ago to Toronto, have just learned that she is amongst the victims of the Empress of Ireland disaster.

She was born in January 1881 in Ireland and lived in Toronto in 1911, according to the Canadian census. However, it appears she had been born 14 January 1875 in Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, Ireland, to James and Jane (nee Hicks) Parkinson, who had married at Clones, Monaghan, Ireland, in 1872. In 1901, she lived at 61 Ann Street in Ballycastle, Antrim, Ireland, as a lodger with Joseph and Martha Moore and their daughter Eileen, aged 5. Letitia was listed as a dressmaker belonging to the Church of Ireland. Her name may have been spelt Letticia Parkinson. She was travelling from Toronto, Ontario, to Dublin, Ireland.
