UNEXPECTED TROUBLE

When many of the early disaster of the 1900's came out with horrifying stories of passengers locked below decks as their ship was sinking beneath them. The scene in the Titanic movie of the 3rd class passengers locked behind the sliding metal screen door made you feel the agony of their despair as they knew they were trapped.

This type of horror was re-told on the night of May 29th, 1914, on the Empress of Ireland. For reasons unknown one of the companionway doors that lead to the open decks was somehow jammed or locked which prevented dozens of passengers from getting out and eventually going down with the ship.

After years of researching I have compiled dozens of stories and crafted them together to re-tell the story in my new book called "The 96 Voyage/the Truth Behind the Empress of Ireland Tragedy"
